Epson PowerLite 470, 475W, 480 and 485W projectors revealed









The newest additions to the ultra short-throw projector lineup, the Epson PowerLite 470, 475W, 480 and 485W are said to be apt for K-12 classrooms as they can be installed about 8 inches away from the wall in rooms with low ceilings. Packaged along with wall mount hardware, these affordable projectors claim to minimize shadow interference and can also be used in conjunction whiteboards.
The Epson PowerLite 470 and 475W render 2,600 lumens color, while the 480 and 485W deliver 3,000 and 3,100 lumens, respectively. The 470 and 480 variants project 4:3 images up to 93 inches in XGA resolution, whereas the 475W and 485W are capable of projecting 16:10 images up to 11 inches in WXGA resolution. The internal 16 watt speakers as well as the built-in closed captioning decoder eliminate the need for additional audio equipments.

“Today’s classrooms need bright images to capture active minds, and our goal is to allow teachers to focus on their students and lessons, rather than their classroom equipment. These new ultra-short throw projectors deliver minimal shadows and no glare in teacher’s eyes, as well as vibrant images and crisp text and lines on dry erase or interactive whiteboards,” stated Heather Litus Johnston, product manager, K-12 Education Marketing, Epson America.
Boasting of a long lamp life that lasts up to 4,000 hours in the economy mode, their horizontal and vertical keystone correction up to 5 degrees and Quick Corner offer rectangular images even when they are not placed in the center. Additionally, they are complete with teaching aids such as pre-set line and graph pattern. All peripherals are inclusive of controls like direct power on/off and A/V mute in addition to a timer that automatically switches them off.
The PowerLite projectors can instantly be connected through USB and they can also play content from a USB drive without the need for a PC system. Besides an optional module for wireless connectivity, these devices can directly project pictures via Epson DC-06 document camera. These Wi-Fi enabled gadgets come with HDMI port, RJ-45 and A/V connection. Moreover, they employ 3LCD and 3-chip technology which cuts back on energy consumption.
The Epson PowerLite 470, 475W, 480 and 485W prices are $1,399 (approx. Rs. 69,955), $1499 (approx. Rs. 74,930), $1,499 (approx. Rs. 74,930) and $1,599 (approx. Rs. 79,930), correspondingly. these projectors are backed by two years limited warranty and will hit store shelves in February.
