FIVE ANDROID FEATURES YOU PROBABLY DON’T KNOW ABOUT

Android has many great features that are useful on daily basis. Google adds several new big and small features with every release that its hard to get used to everyone of them. Some Android 4.2 features of them are useful in your day to day tasks while there are some that you don’t know about but can be useful . Here in this post we have mentioned a few features of Android Jelly Bean 4.2 that we think you are not aware of. Let’s get started.

FACE UNLOCK FEATURE

This is a pretty useful feature and a unique one too. Google added the Face Unlock on Android, which allows smartphone users to unlock their devices from sleep mode using their face. The Face Unlock feature of Android when enabled scans the face of the person using the front camera and matches it with its record to match. This is an effective feature and in our tests was accurate all 10 times we tested. Although it is pretty accurate and does not unlocks the device if the person in front of the camera is not the owner, it requires certain amount of light in the room otherwise it doesn’t work. You can set the passcode of slider combination feature as alternative to this one.

SCREENSHOT TAKING

Just like the iPhone Android devices can also take screenshots which are stored in the photos application and can be shared with others using email or social networks. To take a screenshot on your Android smartphone simply press the volume down button and the lock button simultaneously and keep the pressed until the screenshot is taken.

DAYDREAMING

This is a feature that is similar to the screensaver feature of desktop computers. You can configure the Daydreaming feature by going  to the settings app of your device. You can set the daydreaming feature of your device when it is locked and charging or any one of them. You can also make your Android smartphone to display photos, clock, different shades of colors, Google Currents headlines and more.

GESTURE TYPING

This is a feature similar to the Swype service for Android devices. The Gesture typing feature of Android 4.2 allows users to type the words of their choice by swiping their finger from letter to letter. So if you want to type ‘box’ you will have to swipe from ‘b’ to ‘o’ to ‘x’. The Gesture typing feature of Android is really easy to use and get used to. It is pretty intelligent as well and understands what you are trying to type even if your finger movement isn’t that accurate. It also remembers non-vocabulary words you use on your device as you can add them.

PHOTO SPHERE

Photo Sphere is another unique feature of Android 4.2 that some of you might not be aware of. This particular feature of Android is inspired by the streetview feature of Google Maps and allows users to not only take 360 degree panoramic photos of their surroundings but of all possible directions. It is expected that Google will soon allow users to upload photos taken with the Photo Sphere feature of their devices to Google Maps.
